Financial orders are a crucial component of any divorce or custody action. Many times there is a stay at home parent that has to rely on their spouse for financial support. I will work with you to obtain favorable temporary financial orders as well as final orders to assure your financial stability.
There is a presumption in the state of Connecticut that all marital property, including but not limited to, real property, motor vehicles, bank accounts, securities accounts, cash values of life insurance, retirement accounts, furniture, etc is to be divided evenly at the end of the marriage. Should one party be found to be at fault for the divorce, that presumption can be altered. Additionally, it is extremely important to know what the entire marital estate consists of before attempting to propose a division of it. I have a lot of experience with all aspects of discovery and will work diligently to make sure you receive every last penny you deserve.
Even if you and your spouse are breaking up amicably, which is referred to as an uncontested divorce, you should always review your final agreement with an attorney to make sure you have not forgotten any essential details. It is also very important to understand your rights and responsibilities before signing any agreement. Once we have revised the agreement and it is complete, I will accompany you to court on the day of your uncontested dissolution.
Custody disputes are extremely sensitive issues. You need an attorney who understands what it means to be a parent and how precious our children truly are. I am a parent myself and know how important quality time with your children is. I also understand, unfortunately, that many parents use their children as pawns during divorce proceedings. I am ready, willing and able to help you fight for custody or additional parenting time with your children.

Unfortunately, sometimes there is a need to return to court after the final judgment to either modify a term of the divorce/custody judgment or to enforce a term.

I have experience with all aspects of child protection matters. I have worked closely with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to help protect children in Connecticut from abuse and neglect. On the other hand, I have also battled DCF on a number of occasions and successfully had children returned home safely to their parents.
